A Special Place

Our own experience as a ‘middle-aged’ couple returning to our Garden City of Christchurch after many years made us realise how difficult (amongst the growing number of impersonal apartments, ‘cheap’ townhouse developments and airbnb’s) it is to find a hiqh-quality interim home that actually feels like home.

We wanted to get to know our post-earthquake city again, live in quiet and relaxing surroundings, in an area where we hoped to perhaps purchase or build a property, a place where we would be close to everything and where we could get a feel for the local community. It was a real struggle to rent the right property for the term we wanted.

Surviving the earthquakes and nurtured for over 30 years as a botanical oasis in the city by the late community figure Elizabeth Lucas, Lucas Cottage would have been perfect for our own return to Christchurch.

It is now our privilege to be able to offer this unique rental-accomodation.
